FAQ
Will people notice I'm wearing it?
Will people notice I'm wearing it?
In the right shade and applied in a light layer, no: the powder blends into your roots, and up close or in full daylight you see fuller hair, not a product. The secret: dab lightly, and add more if needed.
Does it work on every hair type?
Does it work on every hair type?
Yes, the powder works on every hair type: straight, wavy, curly and afro. It blends naturally with your hair texture, whatever it is.
Is it messy or complicated to apply?
Is it messy or complicated to apply?
No. The sponge places the powder exactly where you want it: 3 dabs, 10 seconds, and nothing falls on your shoulders. The first few times, go light while you get the hang of it.
Is the hairline powder safe? Does it damage the hair?
Is the hairline powder safe? Does it damage the hair?
The powder stays on the surface of the hair and scalp and washes out with shampoo: it does not damage the hair. As with any cosmetic, do not apply it to irritated or broken skin, and test it on a small area if you have reactive skin.
What are the ingredients?
What are the ingredients?
Mica, Silica, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Magnesium Stearate, Methylparaben, Propylparaben. 4 g pot, built-in sponge and mirror.
How do I remove it if it's waterproof?
How do I remove it if it's waterproof?
An ordinary shampoo is all it takes. Despite resisting sweat and rain, the powder washes out easily with any standard shampoo.
How long does one jar last?
How long does one jar last?
It depends on the area to cover: a small area such as the temples or the parting needs very little product. With the buy 1, get 1 free offer, you always have a refill in reserve.
Hairline powder or hair fibers: what is the difference?
Hairline powder or hair fibers: what is the difference?
The hair fibers are micro-fibers that you sprinkle on: they add volume, but blow away easily and do not like a hand run through the hair. Our compact hairline powder is applied with a sponge, with precision: nothing falls on your shoulders, and it tints the area to the shade of your roots. See our full comparison.
Which shade should I choose if I am between two?
Which shade should I choose if I am between two?
Take the darker of the two: it blends into the natural shadow of the scalp and gives more of a density effect. Go by the colour of your roots, not your lengths. For salt-and-pepper hair, the grey shade, on its own or mixed with the chestnut brown.
Does it hold in the rain and during sport?
Does it hold in the rain and during sport?
Yes. Once applied, the waterproof formula resists rain and sweat, with a hold of up to 48 h according to the manufacturer. It washes out with shampoo. Just avoid rubbing the area with a towel right after sport.
Hairline powder: density restored in 10 seconds
Receding hairline corners, the crown you discover in a photo, a widening part: the Orvova Waterproof Hairline Powder makes these areas invisible in ten seconds, with no surgery and no treatment. It is a compact pressed powder in a case with a built-in sponge and mirror. Dabbed onto the thinning area, it tints the scalp and the base of the hair to the exact shade of your roots: the skin that showed through disappears, and the hair instantly looks fuller.
Waterproof, it holds up in the rain, during sport and all day long, then washes out with your evening shampoo.

Who is it for? Early hair loss, receding temples, crown, widening part
- Receding corners and thinning temples
- The most visible area from the front. A few dabs redraw the hairline.
- Crown (vertex)
- The one you cannot see yourself but that others notice. Apply it with the built-in mirror and a second mirror behind you.
- Widening part
- Common in women: the powder visually narrows the part by covering the scalp on either side.
- Fine hair on top
- The see-through effect disappears and the top of the head looks full.
- Patchy beard
- The same powder fills in the gaps in a beard.
Good to know. The powder gives its best result where some hair remains, even very fine hair. On an area where none is left at all, the skin is tinted but the density effect is limited.
6 shades: how to choose yours
Black · Dark brown · Brown · Light brown · Blond · Grey
Go by the colour of your roots, not the lengths, which are often lightened by the sun. Between two shades, choose the darker one: it blends into the natural shadow of the scalp and gives a stronger density effect. For salt-and-pepper hair, use the grey shade, on its own or mixed with brown.

How to use it in 3 steps
- Dry, styled hair, as usual.
- Load the sponge and dab the thinning area from the centre outwards, using the built-in mirror. Three dabs are enough: it is better to add more than to take it off.
- Blend with your fingertips if needed, and set with a light hairspray if you wish. That is it.
Hairline powder, hair fibers or spray: what is the difference?
Hairline powder
Applied with a sponge, with precision: nothing falls onto the shoulders, and it holds up in the rain.
Hair fibers
Micro-fibers you sprinkle on: they add volume, but blow away easily, settle on the shoulders and do not like a hand run through the hair.
Tinting spray
Tints the skin, but can run with sweat and is visible up close.
To compare everything, read our comparison of hair fibers vs hairline powder.
How does a hairline powder work?
What gives away a thinning area is not the number of hairs: it is the contrast between their colour and that of the skin you can see between them. A root touch-up powder removes that contrast. Its mineral pigments settle on the scalp and at the root of the hair, in the shade of your hair: the eye no longer sees a “gap”, it sees one continuous mass of hair.
That is why it fills in the gaps in the hair just as well on early hair loss as on a widening part. It conceals; it does not make hair grow back.
Hold: rain, sweat, sport
The waterproof formula resists water and sweat, with a hold of up to 48 hours according to the manufacturer. It holds up in the rain, during a workout or a long working day. To remove it, an ordinary shampoo is enough. One precaution only: avoid rubbing the area with a towel right after exercise.
Ingredients and size
Ingredients: Mica, Silica, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Magnesium Stearate, Methylparaben, Propylparaben.
Size: 4 g compact, with an applicator sponge and mirror built into the case.
Does hairline powder damage hair?
No: it stays on the surface of the hair and scalp, and washes out with shampoo. Simply wash your hair in the evening on the days you have worn it, to keep the scalp clean. As with any cosmetic, do not apply it to irritated or damaged skin, and test it on a small area first if you have sensitive skin.
Conceal today, act over the long term
The powder conceals; it does not make hair grow back. To act on actual density, pair it with the roll-on hair regrowth serum: in the morning, the powder on styled hair; in the evening, the serum on a clean scalp. The two do not get in each other's way.
Little tip: I contacted customer service with a question about the shade and they gave me a discount code. Give it a go, you never know. Anyway, the product is great — I've been using it for 3 months and my thinning parting has visually disappeared completely.
I was away on business, caught in a storm straight out of a disaster movie. Soaked shirt, ruined shoes... but my hairline? Untouched. I checked in the car mirror and not a single trace had moved. Genuinely impressive.
I've literally tried everything: hair fibres, coloured sprays, supermarket powders. No comparison. No fibres dropping onto your shoulders or forehead here. It holds, it looks natural, and above all it doesn't show. Buy it with your eyes closed.
Honestly, I was worried about my white sheets. First night with the powder, I got up in full detective mode: pillow spotless, zero marks. My daughter touched my head and noticed nothing. It's my new morning ritual, 20 seconds flat.
I won't lie, I nearly got a bit emotional. After years of sticky sprays and itchy fibres, this sorts it in 30 seconds flat. My wife looked at me and just said "wow". Nothing to add.
I'm 34, losing hair since I was 28. Saw this product on TikTok and thought "here we go, another gimmick". Well, for the price I gave it a shot. Result: my girlfriend asked if I'd done something to my hair. I'm knocking off one star because the dark brown shade is a touch light for me, but otherwise it's solid.
My mates used to tap my crown like a bongo at every party. Two sweeps of the brush with this powder and BOOM, radio silence. Best part? My mum thought I'd started clinic treatment. No mum, just a magic powder.
I'm 42, with a thinning crown for the last 5 years. I've tried Toppik, Caboki, aerosol sprays... This powder is on another level. Easy to apply, ultra-natural finish even in bright light, and it lasts all day. My wife approves, my barber approves. That's all that matters.
The first time I got it all over the sink. You need to get the knack — it's not complicated, but you have to judge the amount. Since the third use it's been perfect, flawless result. I'm taking off one star just for the learning curve.
I lift 4 times a week and I sweat a lot from my scalp. I was afraid it would all run. Result after a 90-minute intense session: nothing moved. I checked in the changing-room mirror and it was still in place. Sold.
That was the real test. I applied it one morning without saying a word. That evening my wife looks at me and says "you're looking well today". Not a word about the hair. Mission accomplished. That means it looks natural.
The product does its job, no doubt about it. Good hold, natural look. My only regret is the slightly limited colour range. I've got salt-and-pepper hair and I had to mix two shades to find the right match. Otherwise, no complaints.
I had an interview for a sales director role. The kind of thing where first impressions count. I applied the powder in the morning and spent 3 hours under office strip lights. Result: I got the job and my hair loss didn't cross my mind once.
People warned me "careful around the pool". I tested it at a friend's barbecue: diving in, splashing, 2 hours in chlorinated water. I got out, one pass with a towel, and everything was still in place. My mates couldn't believe it.
On the temples and the parting it works really well. On my fairly bare crown, though, the coverage is average. You have to use quite a lot and it still shows slightly in full sunlight. It's good, but I'd hoped for more in that area.
My barber was the one who told me about it. He uses it as a finishing touch on some clients. I ordered straight away and honestly, he was right. Quick to apply, clean result, and it gives a genuinely natural density effect. Thanks Karim if you're reading this.
The result is really good once you've mastered the technique. The first 2-3 times I used too much and it looked a bit "powdery". Now, with the right amount, it's perfect — nobody can tell the difference. Quick tip: go easy at first.
At 50 I'd accepted my fate. My son gave me this for Christmas as a joke. Result: I saw myself in the mirror and didn't recognise the bloke. Easily 10 years younger. A colleague asked if I'd had a transplant. No Sylvie, it's powder.
I used Toppik for 3 years. Effective but expensive. I switched to this powder and honestly the result is identical, if not better in terms of hold. And it costs half as much. Easy maths.
For work it's perfect — holds all day, looks natural. The only downside: if I wear a cap for a long time, there's a slight transfer inside. Nothing dramatic, but worth mentioning. Otherwise very happy with the product.
I got married in January. Ceremony, photos, dancing until 4am. I'd applied the powder at 10am. In the photos the next day, flawless from start to finish. My wife says it's the best beauty investment I've ever made. I agree.
